On the silver screen, that is.
The 1974 F. Scott Fitzgerald classic The Great Gatsby will be shown at the homestead as part of what could be an ongoing movie series, according to National Trust events and special promotions manager Hilary Keeley.
‘‘The movie will blend in superbly with the backdrop of Clarendon, if people want to wear period dress they’re most welcome to,’’ Ms Keeley said.
‘‘People can bring their own rug, cushion, low picnic chair, dog, whatever, it will be fantastic.’’
She said Clarendon’s Observatory Cafe would provide a spit roast and its winery would also be serving refreshments for attendees.
‘‘Hopefully it will be a beautiful evening as it has been the last couple of nights,’’ Ms Keeley said.
‘‘It’s all in keeping with the new National Trust concept of really using our houses.’’
People are encouraged to bring their own picnic and those interested in the roast are asked to RSVP.
