The Boxing Day event will see a range of experienced riders speed around the village streets in their bid for success.
Westbury RSL secretary John Gray said the race usually brought about 200 to 300 spectators out to the village green area for the evening and expected more to come this year.
"Particularly as it's a holiday and leading up to the rest of the carnival series," Mr Gray said.
"A lot of people have said they might come down and have a look who haven't been able to make it in the past because they've been working."
He said the RSL had worked closely with race organisers in the past and was pleased to see the event continue to return each year. Tasmanian Christmas Sports Carnivals promoter John Craven said it was the first time in 128 years that the town had been included in the carnival series.
Mr Craven said the criterium would involve 30 laps around the central village track.
"Given a nice balmy night, the beautiful village green will host some explosive action to kick off this year's standard eight-day carnival series.
"Spectators can come and enjoy the ambience of the village green and some top-class racing."
