The Coal River farms have been closed until the end of the month due to a sewage spill caused by heavy rain about 10 days ago.
The spill has affected about 10 per cent of the industry, which would supply more than 80,000 dozen oysters to the interstate market.
Oysters Tasmania executive officer Adam Saddler said it would not lead to a product recall.
''There is no infectious product out there,'' Mr Saddler said.
''Our concern is the long lasting impact on the brand,'' he said.
Mr Saddler said the growers would lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit.
He called on the state's water and sewage company TasWater to fix what he described as ''failed infrastructure''.
''We want them to come to the table with government and work through a long term solution,'' he said.
Mr Saddler said the leak shouldn't lead to local shortage.
TasWater has been contacted for comment.
