They will be speaking to former Hutchins School teacher Ronald Thomas, who, until recently, was thought to be dead.
Recently, police spoke to two former students at the school who indicated that they would like police to further investigate.
A report will be provided to the Director of Public Prosecutions for review.
EARLIER: FORMER Hutchins student Timothy Rowland was raped twice by French teacher Lyndon Hickman, a royal commission has heard.
Mr Rowland this morning told the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse the abuse occurred in the mid 1960s.
The hearing heard Mr Hickman told the student he was a dummy who needed to be taught a lesson, before having anal sex with him against his will.
Mr Rowland said he came forward with the allegations to former Hutchins teacher Geoffrey Ayling soon after the abuse, but was not aware any action was taken.
Mr Ayling told the commission he had no memory of their exchange, but did not deny that it took place.
The hearing heard Mr Rowland had told nobody of the abuse for almost 50 years, including his wife.
Mr Rowland said he had been left feeling scared and ashamed, believing speaking of the abuse was tantamount to disclosing an affair.
The hearing continues.
