LOFTY schooling ambitions began early for Launceston College students Jack Hanson and Allan Le, who say they’ve been working for outstanding results since the start of high school.

Mr Hanson was the highest-scoring Tasmanian Certificate of Education student in the North this year with a score of 99.9.
Launceston Church Grammar student Arrabella King, of Stanley, was ranked second with a score of 99.7, followed by Mr Le with a score of 99.5.
All plan to enter further university study next year with Mr Hanson looking in the finance and economics fields, and Ms King and Mr Le wanting to study medicine.
More than 7100 year 11 and 12 students across the state will have been notified of their results by email or post by today.
For Mr Hanson yesterday was a massive day of celebration, first seeing his results and then also passing his provisional drivers licence test.
He said he had an unsettled night of sleep.
‘‘[Results] usually come in at two or three in the morning so I was waking up all night and checking and when I finally woke up about 8.30am – it was there,’’ he said.
‘‘I always wanted to try as best I could.’’
Miss King said she had wanted to get a score above 98 so was excited to know she achieved a 99.7.
‘‘I was shocked at first. It is awesome.’’
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff congratulated all students on their achievements, particularly those whose results put them in the top 100 by Australian Tertiary Admission Rank [ATAR] score.
■The highest achievers in the state were Connie Beswick, The Friends School; Eliza Cropp, of Elizabeth College; and Sam Rigby, The Friends School. The top three students from the North-West were Emma Allwright, The Don College; Keil Haas, Hellyer College; and Vincent Horton, The Don College.
