Visiting St Helens to officially open the region's newest seafood venture - Kiss a Fish Cookery School - Mr Hodgman said state tourism figures are six per cent higher than last year.
"Tasmania is now seen as a food and beverage capital internationally," he said.
"The East Coast is the heart of our tourism industry and a region that depends on a lot of tourism activity."
The Premier said more needed to be done to lure visitors to regional Tasmania, however.
"We need more to bring tourists to regional Tasmania and initiative businesses like [Kiss a Fish] are an example of how we can showcase our wonderful natural produce.
"This is an attraction that is going to give Tasmanians, interstate visitors and people from around the world an authentic Tasmanian experience."
Kiss a Fish Cookery School teaches visitors how to professionally cook seafood.
