The faces of Australia: Ross Bower
► The Volunteering Redlands - Greg Cook Volunteer Recognition Award winner went to former Redland Museum president Ross Bower taking the top gong for his "unwavering commitment, tireless dedication and outstanding leadership".
Volunteering Redlands chairwoman Patsy Wilshire said Mr Bower's colleagues had nominated him for "his exceptional work ethics and inspiring professionalism".
"On his own time and cost, he completed a degree in Master of Museum Studies from the University of Queensland," Ms Wilshire said.
"Strategic planning for the museum's extension and encouraging community engagement have been some of Mr Bower's key achievements."
In accepting the award, Mr Bower, who was the museum's president for seven years, said he was thrilled to receive the acknowledgment.
"Sometimes I feel that I work much harder at this volunteer role than I did in my 40 years of engineering career, but I enjoy it much more too," he said.
The award is organised by Volunteering Redlands and supported by Victoria Point Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank to recognise excellence in volunteerism in the Redlands.
