Ut si Cafe owner Colette Barns said she received an anxious call from her father early this morning, to tell her the 175-year-old wooden doors on the converted-church cafe had been hacked open with an axe, and the contents of the till emptied.
``It's not going to be easy to repair, they are lovely old baltic pine,'' Ms Barns said.
``It appears that only money was taken, just a bit of a mess was made.
``Fortunately nothing else was damaged.''
Longford police Sergeant Chris Parr said it appeared that burglars broke into the Perth Sausage Shop about 3am, and then went across Main Road to burgle the cafe.
Both businesses were examined by forensic police officers this morning.
