Yesterday afternoon, Devonport uniform police, detectives and forensic officers investigated an incident between a 31-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.

During the incident, the woman sustained head injuries.

The man and woman are known to each other.

Police arrested the man.

Tony John Travers, 31, has faced the Devonport Magistrates Court on allegations of assault and wounding.

He was further remanded in custody to reappear on Monday via video-link.

The woman received hospital treatment and has been released.
