An adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s 170-year-old novel The Snow Queen with parts of Frozen worked in, producer and choreographer Kim Roe said the Ice Queen would tell children the story behind the hit movie.
‘‘It’s our little slant on telling children the real story of The Snow Queen, and where it came from, but with a little touch and a mix of Frozen put in it,’’ she said.
‘‘Because everyone loved Frozen so much, and they were all singing the songs and so keen, so I thought, really they should learn the true story, not the Disney version.
‘‘The school children have been sent information to study up on the real story that Hans Christian Andersen wrote, and the reason behind it.’’
Ms Roe said the pantomime would involve about 80 dancers ranging from four to 30 years of age.
‘‘It’s the most enjoyable, fun time of the year for them. They’re pretty excited now,’’ she said.
‘‘The school shows are very well booked. There will be tickets available during the day but people should try and come on the Monday evening.’’
Ice Queen will be presented at the Princess Theatre on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
