Although Movember was originally focused on prostate and testicular cancer, the Rank Moes For Cam team decided to band together in memory of their friend Cameron Orr, who died as a result of depression earlier this year.
The 29-strong team has so far raised more than $7000 for the cause by growing the "rankest moes possible".
Team member Chris Morgan said the group had decided to take part in Movember because it would be nice way to show support for each other and he thought Cameron would be proud.
"I think he would have been amazed. He would have done the same thing for anyone," he said.
"Movember is about a whole range of things, but we're kind of focusing on mental health issues.
"We're trying to make a statement that it's OK to talk about [mental health] and raise some funds for it."
Mr Morgan said the response to the team's efforts had been overwhelming.
"We're just trying to show each other that we're all there for each other, because it's such a horrible thing."
