Police are investigating the alleged assault of a woman at East Devonport earlier today.

According to police, a woman entered the United Service Station in East Devonport just before 1pm, bleeding from the head.
She allegedly told staff that she had been assaulted.
Uniform police and members of the Devonport CIB attended the scene and soon after located a 31-year-old East Devonport man in a nearby park. He is currently assisting detectives with their inquiries.
A unit in Tarleton Street at East Devonport has been the subject of forensic testing in regards to the alleged incident.
The alleged victim, a 21-year-old Devonport woman, was taken to the North-West Regional Hospital in Burnie, where she is receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe the woman and man are known to each other.
