The Launceston General Hospital Children’s Ward Auxiliary donated 50 brightly patterned bedspreads to the hospital this week to replace the standard white ones usually in place.
Patterns range from Star Wars to animals and printed poems to ensure that children of all ages are able to enjoy the new additions to the ward.
Auxiliary president Thora Bryan said over the past two years the organisation has donated more than 150 bedspreads to the children’s ward.
‘‘We know they’re going to be useful to the wards,’’ Ms Bryan said.
‘‘Rather than having the white clinical bedspreads it’s nice to get a bit of colour.
‘‘It’s really nice to have a bit of variety and the nurses love it because it makes it so much brighter on the ward.’’
A patient at the hospital, Shannon Cassidy, 17, said she loved having the bedspreads on the wards.
‘‘I’ve been coming into hospital since I was born,’’ Shannon said.
‘‘I love them – they’re so colourful.’’
With dreams of becoming a vet when she is older, Shannon was pleased to see animal designs on some of the bedspreads.
