THE Tasmanian Roar has spent its month off "fine-tuning" the basics following its monumental win over Western Australia, says assistant coach David Drew.

That win, which was powered by English recruit Heather Knight, has those in charge believing the group is on the right track after its win-less time of it last summer.
They have an opportunity to further show evidence of that against the Queensland Fire, the reigning T20 champions, at Launceston's Aurora Stadium this weekend.
"We just worked on the basics and the little things, the stuff that we always harp on, as we need to make sure that they are right," Drew ahead of the first official Cricket Australia fixtures at the venue.
"Really it was just the bowling and a few little variations and just ensuring our batters are watching the ball nice and carefully so they can execute the shots that they want to play."
Drew described fast bowler Katelyn Fryett's knee injury as a "wear and tear" issue and her absence this weekend is a big one for the Roar.
But they will welcome back all-rounder Erin Burns.
As well as a Queensland team featuring such names as Jodie Fields, Jess Jonassen and Delissa Kimmince, Drew said the girls also had to confront the challenge of playing under artificial light.
"This will be the first time that the girls have ever played under lights and at Aurora, which is really exciting for them.
"But we've trained under lights, did some catching, and simulated the dewiness of the ground, so we think we're fine."
Bowling all-rounder Meg Phillips, one of three Northern Tasmanians in the squad, said the girls were feeling confident.
"I think we're going in very strong," the Evandale 18-year-old said.
Sasha Moloney and Brooke Hepburn are the other Northern players in the squad.
The teams will play a T20 tonight at 6pm, a 50-over match tomorrow at 11am and a T20 on Sunday at 10am.
