Assistant Commissioner Donna Adams was a joint winner of the Business Innovation Award, which was announced at a function in Melbourne last night.
Assistant Commissioner Adams took the award as recognition for her strategy to equip frontline police with tablets in order to increase efficiency and provide better services to Tasmanians.
Through her work, Tasmania Police was the first organisation in the country to use 3G tablets on the frontline, creating a ''mobile office''.
“The only way I can continue to influence and shape the future direction of my organisation is to continually challenge my thinking, broaden my knowledge and stay in touch with community so I understand their issues,” she said.
“I want to inspire the great women in our organisation and hopefully through my success they will feel empowered to face the challenges so they can also achieve great things.”
Assistant Commissioner Adams has been with the police for 26 years.
The Australian Business Woman of the Year was awarded to Anne Cross, of UnitingCare in Queensland.
