Just after 3am a vehicle was driven through the front door of Auto Addiction in Launceston's Wellington Street.
Shortly after this, a vehicle was reversed through the front of Finney Funeral Services at Kings Meadows.
Police are looking for a white Toyota Hilux four-wheel-drive flat tray and its occupants, who they believe were seen acting suspiciously around the area at the time of the incidents.
Detective Inspector John King said two vehicles matching that description had been stolen from in and around Launceston during the past week.
"At this stage we are treating [both incidents] as linked," Detective Inspector King said.
"We have had incidents like this in the past, however, not recently."
Police have not yet been able to locate the vehicles.
It is believed that money was the motivation for both incidents with cash being stolen from both sites.
"We would like to just remind business owners that leaving cash on business premises is not a good idea," Inspector King said.
"It can cause offenders to look at your business and/or prompt repeat burglaries."
Launceston police are calling for anyone with information to contact CIB on 6777 3910 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
