I particularly commend him for reflecting upon the misogyny entrenched in our society. Misogyny is unacceptable and I look towards a time when men and women are treated as equal.
I am a male and I consider myself a feminist. I am also an avid fan of hip-hop.
Rap is a great medium to convey stories and ideas in a relevant aesthetic, connecting with young people such as myself.
Storytelling has been an important part of our lives since ancient times, and through the medium of rap and hip hop it continues to convey important social commentary, progressive ideas and meaningful stories.
Not unlike John Lennon's "Give peace a chance" movement in the late 60s (I'm also a Beatles fan, that's one thing we can agree on).
Rap can be used to influence positive social change. I am afraid you have been exposed to the record companies' capitalisation of gangsta rap; a bastardisation of hip-hip conveying violence and unacceptable misogyny.
Let me assure you that this is not what rap and hip-hop is about.
