The two have bet a keg of beer on the result of the match between the Alchemy All Stars and the Sporties Legends, with the loser having to pour the first drink from the keg at the winner’s venue after the tournament has finished.
The cricket competition, which has some rule twists in comparison with other forms of the game, sees Launceston pubs align themselves with Cricket North and TCL clubs.
Its second instalment begins on Sunday.
Launceston venues the TRC, Cock’n’Bull, Star Bar and The Royal Oak are also involved with franchises.
Both Mr Norton and Mr Daking were confident yesterday that they would come out on top in the bet.
‘‘It is a healthy rivalry between us,’’ Mr Norton said.
‘‘But overall this competition is good for cricket in the North and lifting the profile of the sport here.
‘‘We want to support everything that we can in this town that will see people coming into the town.’’
Mr Daking added: ‘‘This competition is great for a community and great for Launceston, and it was a no-brainer for us to be involved again.’’
Ex-Tasmanian players Brendan Drew [All Stars] and Jason Krejza [Legends] will feature in the bet-deciding match at 1pm on Sunday as part of the opening round gala day.
Southern Star Ellyse Perry will play for the Oak Royals from 6pm.
There will also be live music, as well as a ‘‘chill out zone’’ where people can watch the match.
Admission is free.
