Last year, Northern Midlands councillors said the 26-metre tower's construction in Lyttleton Street would be an eyesore for the community and would impede on the area's heritage.
Local businesses even threatened to shut up shop if construction went ahead.
Yesterday, Northern Midlands Council revealed it had been unsuccessful in its objection, with the Supreme Court ruling in Telstra's favour.
"The decision found against the Northern Midlands Council and concluded that the permit issued. . . for the erection of a telecommunications tower at 8A Lyttleton Street, Longford was valid," a council statement read.
"Council is not in a position to pursue this action further."
