The biennial Midlands Military Meet and Rendezvous is expected to bring more than 3000 people to the town on November 22 and 23.
MMMR organising committee chairman John Lennox said this year's meet would have a focus on the centenary of Anzac Day.
"We've got a group of living history, people from the mainland, to represent an Australian WWI unit," Mr Lennox said.
"They'll be living in a WWI camp with a trench system and there'll be a simulated battle scene involving those people."
He said a Miss Military Meet competition would also be held and had already drawn interest from Victoria.
"Ladies will be asked to do two representations, one in evening dress from the 40s and another in work dress," Mr Lennox said.
"There will also, on Saturday night, be a 40s dance.
"We'll have St Joe's Big Band from Launceston playing and most people turn up in 40s gear or uniform, it should be a humdinger."
The two-day event will involve displays from about 120 people.
