Yesterday in the Launceston Supreme Court, Asador Mekonen Hinsta, 25, pleaded guilty to the two charges, on the morning his trial had been due to commence.
This afternoon, Justice Robert Pearce acknowledged that he was sentencing Hinsta on the basis that he did not intend to physically harm the officers.
Neither of the policemen were physically injured.
Justice Pearce jailed Hinsta for 12 months, backdated to July 9, with a non-parole period of seven months.
He also activated Hinsta's five-month suspended sentence, which he had breached with his new offending, and ordered that he serve the five months cumulative to the sentence he just imposed, with a non-parole period of three months.
Hinsta's earliest release date will be in May 2015.
Hinsta was also disqualified from driving for 12 months upon release.
Fuelled by the drug ice, Hinsta accelerated his Ford Falcon XR6 sedan through the same police road block - twice - on November 27, 2012.
The road block, on the Bass Highway near Deloraine, had been set up after a serious multi-vehicle crash.
Policeman Dani Cashion, who consequently retired from the force, was forced to jump out of Hinsta's path about 10am, otherwise he would have been hit.
Hinsta drove through the road block again about 2pm, when the same officer tried to deploy road spikes, which malfunctioned.
Several police officers then pursued Hinsta, who was speeding up to 100 km/h in a 60 km/h zone, and Hinsta's car eventually collided with a police motorcyclist.
The rider, Steve Ockerby, was flung from his motorbike and onto the ground.
Hinsta then accelerated towards Ockerby, who drew his pistol and fired several shots at the car speeding towards him.
The shots were unsuccessful, but Hinsta quickly lost control of his car and crashed.
