A fire has caused $200,000 damage to a home at Hampshire overnight.

It took crews from three brigades about an hour to control the blaze at Upper Natone Road.
The fire was dialled in by a 000 hotline about 12.30am on Sunday.

Crews had to wear breathing apparatus to fight the fire, and due to its intensity, fire fighters were not able to fight the blaze from inside the house.
Water had to be sourced from the old Hampshire Woodchip Mill several kilometres away to aid efforts.
The Tasmania Fire Service is investigating the cause of the incident.
