The Eagles made 9-141, batting first with captain John Le Fevre and opening partner Liam Reynolds seeing off the new ball with a solid partnership of 65 for the opening wicket.
Reynolds top scored with 38 and Le Fevre made 24.
After the good start wickets fell quickly but the Eagles were able to eek out a score of 141.
Launceston fought hard with the bat in reply, but fell short of the target and was dismissed for 129.
Tom Bennett top scored with 34 and Cameron Lynch made 21 to help stabilise the innings after they lost openers Alistair Taylor and Rowan Smith cheaply, to be 2-7.
The Mowbray bowlers were able to claim wickets and restrict the run rate when it mattered with Ric Considine claiming four wickets for the second successive week, finishing with figures of 4-23, off nine overs.
Jerome Illingworth bowled 10 overs straight and took 3-21.
‘‘It was very tight and we got out of jail I think,’’ Le Fevre said.
‘‘We won the toss and batted first on a new wicket, which probably offered a bit to the bowlers.
‘‘We were a little bit lucky early, but Liam and I tried to play attacking cricket but after we got out we lost some quick wickets.
‘‘I thought 140 was 20 to 40 runs short of what we needed, but we bowled well despite dropping five catches and not backing our bowlers up in the field in the first 17 overs.
‘‘We were able to turn that around and restrict their batsmen and put pressure on them and managed to sneak away with a win.’’
WESTBURY got its premiership defence off to a winning start defeating South Launceston by 86 runs in their game at Shaws Oval.
The Shamrocks made 8-241, batting first with captain Dane Anderson again showing his class by top scoring with 94, off 106 balls, with seven boundaries and three sixes.
Jonathan Chapman and Michael Lukic contributed some handy runs in the tail making 27 and 21 respectively.
In reply, the Knights made 9-155, with captain Nathan Philip continuing his excellent form with the bat by top scoring with 72, off 75 balls, with seven boundaries and two sixes.
Jack Young contributed a valuable 23 with the bat at No.11.
Michael Lukic was the best of the Shamrocks bowlers taking 3-21, while Casey Young picked up 3-60 for the Knights.
‘‘It was a good day, but we lost wickets regularly and it was a bit disappointing we couldn’t put on any big partnerships,’’ Anderson said.
‘‘But all the batters spent a bit of time there and looked pretty good and the tail-enders scored some handy runs late to get us up to 240 when we were looking at 200 at one stage.
‘‘We bowled really well and had them on the back foot for the duration.
‘‘Michael Lukic was good with three wickets and Nathan Parkin bowled well coming up from the twos.’’
