WHAT: Gridiron Tasmania 2014-15 season kick-off.
WHERE: Royal Park, Launceston.
WHEN: Saturday, November 1, from 2pm.
AFTER about 12 months of hard work, Gridiron Tasmania is ready to kick off for the first time.
The first official American Football competition in Tasmania, which is affiliated with Gridiron Australia, will feature three teams, and begins with the Northern Gorillas taking on the Southern Knights at Royal Park on Saturday, November 1.
The third team in the league is the Devils, from the South of the state.
There will also be a secondary competition featuring another team from the North and the North-West, with the hope that they will join the main game next year.
Gridiron Tasmania president and Gorillas coach Matt Cameron yesterday said there would be an all-star week in February during the season, which runs until early March, featuring a visiting team from Victoria.
‘‘We’re not going to have too much in the way of fanfare next weekend,’’ Cameron said.
‘‘We’ve just got a group of guys who have worked really hard for the past few months of training who are ready to get on the park and show in their stuff.’’
Further information on Gridiron Tasmania is available on its Facebook page.
