As with ballot papers for our House of Assembly elections this is both false and misleading.
At the bottom of ballot papers, in smaller print, voters are told truthfully how many candidates they need to vote for to make a valid vote.
The deceptive information at the top of the ballot papers is compounded by advice contained in the Tasmanian Electoral Commission's official information pamphlet where, under the heading "Instructions", voters are told inappropriately to "number all the boxes on each ballot paper. . . "
I recommend that those who have not already voted, read the bottom of each ballot paper first. They will then receive credible and accurate voting information.
For this conflicting and misleading situation to continue uncorrected should be regarded as unconscionable and I trust that it will be rectified before the next Local Government and House of Assembly elections.
