The Roar will face the Western Fury this weekend for two Twenty20s and one 50-over clash at the WACA.
‘‘Our girls have to stop using that tag of being inexperienced, as a lot of them have played together for four or five years now,’’ Price said yesterday.
‘‘Last year [when the team finished bottom of the ladder in both competitions] we lost on a few days that we should have won, but this year we should be able to have a bit more maturity and composure in those situations.’’
For this to occur, Price said it would come through improvement in all areas of their game.
Her team has been bolstered by the addition of English opener Heather Knight and New South Wales leg-spinner Celeste Rack.
Knight, who averages 29.41 in ODIs for England and 12.92 in T20s will provide some much needed stability to the top of the order.
The 23-year-old blasted 141 from 47 balls, including 18 fours and eight sixes, in Hobart club cricket at the weekend.
‘‘With Heather we have one of our strongest batting line-ups, where in the past we have had a lot of middle order batters, but no real genuine top order batters.
‘‘A lot of the girls have been able to bounce ideas off her, and she has been challenging the group, as she has that international experience and high expectations of herself, which she puts on the rest of the girls as well.’’
Price said there would be a strong spin element to the Roar’s game plan after watching the Fury, which includes England’s Charlotte Edwards, struggle against the slower bowlers against Queensland last week in three losses last weekend.
The first of the three matches over the weekend will be played at 5pm tomorrow.
