The Launceston College student was last night recognised for her commitment to Brooks with the Exceptional Young Person Award at the City of Launceston and Playgroup Tasmania Children’s Week Awards.

Tiffany, a former head prefect at Brooks, visits the school weekly to coach a netball team, volunteers in its canteen and is chairwoman of the school’s association.

Awards co-ordinator Theresa Sutzcak labelled Tiffany a ‘‘very astute young lady’’.

‘‘She loves the school and loves the community and really puts in the work,’’ Ms Sutzcak said.

Ms Sutzcak explained the awards were given out as part of the council’s Children’s Week activities.

‘‘They’re a great way to recognise young people and the people who work with young people in the work they do in the community,’’ she said.

‘‘It’s a great partnership between Playgroup Tasmania and the City of Launceston.’’

City of Launceston will today hold a Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
