The 17-year-old, who was a member of the Tasmanian schools team in Western Australia, gained selection as a member of the School Sport Australia honours team as well as the Australian schools team that will compete against New Zealand on the East Coast of Tasmania in January.
Coached by Michael Dowling at Esk Valley Orienteering Club, the year 11 student at Scotch Oakburn College was also a member of the Tassie Foresters Team that won the junior national orienteering league for 2014.
Hannah first gained representation in the Tasmanian schools team in 2010 and for the past five years has maintained her selection.
As a senior member she enjoys supporting the younger members of her team and this year was a personal mentor for the youngest team member, another Launceston student.
Hannah is also a keen netballer and has been a member of the Scotch Oakburn senior girls firsts for two years, and rower as the stroke for the college’s senior girls’ first eight.
Her netball team was successful in not only winning the Northern premiership but also beat St Mary’s College to take out the state premiership for the third consecutive year.
Hannah, who is nominated for The Examiner’s service to sport category, was also a member of the Cavaliers’ successful under-19 team and, for the past three years, has assisted at her former club, Gee Tees, to run a Net, Set, Go program that introduces the sport to five-to-eight-year-olds.
