Five irrigation schemes - Scottsdale, Swan Valley, Southern Highlands, North Esk and Circular Head - were identified as ready for investment in the next 12 months in a green paper released by Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce today.
Water Minister Jeremy Rockliff said the state had already put $30 million into the projects, but they would need more funding if they are to become a reality.
"Following the state government's investment, a $110 million Commonwealth investment would enable all five schemes to progress," he said.
"We have been lobbying the Commonwealth Government to impress upon them the importance of these schemes to Tasmania."
Mr Rockliff said the Southern Highlands and Scottsdale schemes were on track to enter the construction phase before the end of the year.
