Woodchips being exported from Macquarie Point for five years while the government is pinning its hopes on the Tamar Valley pulp mill. It's about time the Liberals stopped navel-gazing and seeing only forestry, and focused on bright, innovative ideas for the 21st century and beyond rather than on a dying industry.
All they seem to be doing is cutting jobs, cutting money to charities such as Food Bank, which now has more clients than ever, and cutting legal aid.
Yet they are willing to spend millions on an industry that has had more money thrown at it than any other and returns zilch. Get into the real world and look at what the rest of the world is doing and how forestry is managed elsewhere and still manages to return a profit to the long-suffering taxpayers.
