The conference started yesterday with an official opening by Tasmanian Liberal Senator Richard Colbeck and the keynote speech by Mike McQueen before a range of concurrent sessions until lunch.
A three-hour site visit to the 2200 hectare mixed farming property Eastfield, near Cressy, preceded the annual meeting and conference dinner.
Today's program starts with a session on quadbike safety.
As the leading cause of farm injury deaths in Australia, a whole session has been dedicated to this issue.
Presentations include assessments on interventions occurring in New Zealand and funded through the NZ Accident Compensation Corporation — by Dr John Wren — and information from the recently released Australian study examining a safety rating scale for quads and side by side vehicles to allow purchasers better information on the safety of these products — by Professor Raphael Grzbeitia.
Dr Cameron Clark will also investigate the future use of robotics and quads and their role in agriculture and Dr Shane Richardson will detail information on a simulation analysis.
The conference concludes with the 1.45-2.30pm panel session - Where to next for farm health and safety? - and a wrap up, from 2.30pm-3pm.
