The St Helens resident was honoured with a Pride of Australia Environmental Medal last Monday.
Mr Dudley has spearheaded several major environmental pushes on the state’s East Coast, including the prohibition of subdivision along the coastline and the Skyline Tier’s Ecological Restoration Project.
Last week, Mr Dudley said there was still much to be done however.
‘‘It’s always nice to get some recognition, but there’s potential for a lot more ecological restoration work,’’ he said.
‘‘The natural environment is one of our greatest assets and it’s really important to have people who are advocating and caring for it.’’
Mr Dudley said his focus was now on the continued restoration of native forest within the Skyline Tiers.
‘‘Ultimately, I would like to restore the Skyline Tiers back to native forest, which is about 2000 hectares.
‘‘That could take 20 years – it’s a long term thing. But we’ll keep pushing for more funding.’’
