LAUNCESTON Show volunteers have since last week been hard at work setting up livestock pavilions for this year's show, show society life member and former president Ian Millen said.

Cattle people started preparation for the beef section last Friday and dairy work started spreading their straw last Saturday, he said.
"It's been fairly hectic," he said.
"The beef people did their own setting up this year, because they've gone over to sawdust rather that the straw that we use — they had a working bee among themselves doing that.
"A lot of the cattle were already here by Tuesday — they like to get the animals here a day or two before the show so they can settle down before the crowds start pouring through the pavilions.
"Sheep are here today and tomorrow and then they go home on Friday afternoon to make way for the alpacas that will be on show on Saturday."
