CANDIDATES
DARREN ALEXANDER
I will fight for this city to return it to its rightful place as a vibrant economic hub, as it has been in the past.
We need to create a stronger retail sector, revitalise the central business district, & more importantly, provide a future culture of innovation and a place where our children want to live, work & play.
Why should people vote for me? Because it’s time for a change.
It’s time for a new direction.
I took my local Launceston business to the world stage, & I want to do the same thing for this great city.
We need to build on our natural strengths, leverage investment & create jobs.
MANDIE AUSTIN
I am a local business woman, entrepreneurial property developer and visionary.
I think outside the square, seeking to apply innovative solutions to existing challenges, while chartering a step by step process for implementing new initiatives to see our city’s economy prosper.
We have many creative, passionate and intelligent thinkers in our city and region.
I would consider it a great privilege if given the opportunity to serve as your independent Alderman, listening to you, representing you and being your voice, together achieving our visions of a vibrant future for our beautiful city.
KYLE BARRETT
Launceston City Council needs new, youthful representation for a real change.
A balanced, pro-development focus to create new employment is essential to making Launceston a vibrant municipality for all of us.
Residents must feel safe in their community and public assets like parks, reserves and nature strips must be well maintained.
The Aquatic Centre should be financially sustainable.
Support Aurora AFL and community events well into the future.

A student, part-time small business operator, community advocate and passionate Launcestonian! Vote 1 – Kyle Barrett.

PHILIPPA CASSIDY
Launceston needs independent, informed Aldermen.
Having worked for 20 years as a financial adviser, I would bring skills and experience to Council to ensure ratepayers funds are invested prudently, transparently and fairly.
I am not a cog in the wheel of any political party, and never have been.
I support sensitive, sustainable development that enhances the vibrancy and uniqueness of our city.
As an experienced company director and local business owner, I look forward to helping Launceston grow and prosper.
LEON COOPER
I'm an artist, seasonal vineyard worker, volunteer mental health befriender, former student representative, left-wing atheist.
Please vote for me.
I need the money to help promote my arts practice.
I would also like the word alderman on the front of my name.
Marijuana should be legalised and taxed.
JIM COX
The Launceston City Council should be seen as a board of management charged with the responsibility of supporting ratepayers and ensuring that rates are spent wisely as we will face some financial challenges over the next few years.
My experience and independence enables me to make decisions that are in the best interests of the long term welfare of a community I have lived and worked in nearly all my life.
Rather than make rash, unsustainable, electoral promises for the future Council, I have a determination to give this city the best opportunity to grow.
