LTA committee member Alicia Perry said the season will begin today with the mixed roster being played on Monday nights, the women's on Tuesday, juniors on Wednesday and men's rosters on Thursdays.
"We will have an increase in teams this year compared to last year with over 100 teams taking part," Perry said.
"Our four main clubs are Aztecs, Grasscutters, Hazards and Sharks and a number of independent teams mixed in with them."
Perry said the season runs until the end of February with 21 rounds being played.
"Our youngest players would be aged about eight in the under-12 comp and then right through with some players 60 or 70-plus," she said.
"Touch is popular because it is non-contact and pretty easy to pick up and it's affordable and accessible for the whole family to be involved."
Representative games will be played in February, in Devonport, for the state cup involving teams from each region of the state.
Anyone interested in playing can still register online at the LTA website.
