We are away for two weeks and come back to find that the government, who yell that they are all for jobs, jobs, jobs, may be going to act to compulsorily acquire parts of Triabunna back from its new owners.
Graham Wood has spent money on his acquisition and employed some people already.
He has a vision which would put that part of Tasmania on the map and employ 200 people.
Now we hear those plans could be in jeopardy because of the government’s fixation with forestry.
With forestry a failing business, in constant need of ‘letters of comfort’ to keep it going, why on earth can’t the government let private enterprise have a go? Anything business involving government nearly always seem to eat money without giving anything back.
Think of the number of nurses, police and teachers that would have employed, especially as our state pollies are saying there is no money and are going to give 1200 public servants the boot.
Why is forestry a sacred cow and where will the money come from for a buy back when we are supposedly so strapped for cash?
