Deep punk.
The thinking man's punk sound.
They are some of the ways you could assess the sound of Adelaide duo The Hard Aches.
"It's not yelling punk rock, as there is a little bit more to it," one half of the group, Ben David, told X-static recently.
"We've been performing under this name for a couple of years, and this will be our third Tassie trip as a band, as we always love it down there."
The trip he speaks of is to Launceston for Club 54's Grand Band Final on Saturday night, with the AFL Grand Final night event to also feature The Styles and Seth Henderson.
It will be the first time that The Hard Aches have been in Launceston since December 2012.
"We are pretty high-energy out there," David said.
"Our songs aren't necessarily fast-paced, but while it is so personal, it is a very high show that we try to bring to the table each time.
"We try to incorporate a lot of sing-along, anthem-like bits into it, which are a big bonus at our shows.
"'Tassie is one of our favourite places to play and we've got a lot of good friends down here."
David said he was looking forward to Saturday night's show.
"I've got a good feeling about this show, especially with it being on grand final night.
"Club 54 has been doing some really good things lately and we're keen to finally play there.
"I'm really interested in hearing The Styles and Seth Henderson, as we have never played with them before."
The band released an EP Organs and Airports late last year, which David said they were "very proud of" and are focusing their energy on a full-length album.
It is likely to be released either at the end of this year or the start of next year.
