The group this month held its annual meeting at Longford’s Toosey aged care, where it reported 6513 deliveries for the 2013-14 financial year.
Organisation secretary Sue Thomas said the figure was split between 3912 deliveries at Longford, 1983 at Perth and 671 at Cressy.
Mrs Thomas said Clifford Craig Research Trust chief executive Peter Milne was guest speaker at the event.
‘‘He was very interesting, you hear the name (Clifford Craig), but you don’t really know about what it does,’’ she said.
‘‘I think, because of Clifford Craig Trust, that is why Launceston is such a good teaching hospital." Mrs Thomas said this year’s demand for deliveries was higher than last, and could use any additional assistance from volunteers.
'‘We always need more volunteers, it’s usually just delivering meals once a month and takes about 90 minutes of your time,’’ she said.
‘‘We never turn down anyone, we could use as many as we can get.’’
Willing members for the organisation's s committee are also being welcomed to the table.
‘‘There’s about eight people on the committee, we’re looking for people who may want to step in as president, secretary or treasurer if anything was to happen,’’ Mrs Thomas said.
Those interested in volunteering at Longford can call Mike Barnes on 6391 1522, Helen Smith for Perth on 6398 2020, or Andy Turnham for Cressy on 6397 5051.
