Blizzard's 78 from 48 balls dragged Tasmania's Twenty20 franchise from the edge of defeat to a monumental win.
But the man of the match had a little help.
Chasing 185 for victory and needing 31 off the final 16 balls, he picked out the fielder in the deep, only for the delivery to be declared a front-foot no-ball.
Blizzard sent the resultant free hit into the stands, and in what seemed like a blink of an eye, the Hurricanes got the required runs with six wickets and six balls remaining.
Blizzard also received plenty of support from Ben Dunk (54 from 35) while Jon Wells played a cool hand at the end, finishing unbeaten on 17.
"I just tried to get in, their spinners bowled very well and full credit to them," Blizzard said.
"It was a great opportunity to capitalise on their quicks and I knew that they were going to come back on and that was the opportunity for us.
"The no ball was definitely the turning point for me, I hit a six the ball before and that was when we really needed to go.
"I was very fortunate to get that opportunity to keep going and get a free hit as a result. I think that's when the innings turned around for me personally."
Earlier, Ben Hilfenhaus (2-49 off four overs) and Ben Laughlin (2-31 off four overs) were in the wickets, while Xavier Doherty bowled a tidy spell of 0-29 from his four, as the Cobras made 6-184, thanks to some late hitting from Robin Peterson and Vernon Philander.
The Hurricanes' next match will be against New Zealand's Northern Knights, which includes former teammate Scott Styris, on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, Tasmania has concluded its preseason tour of Queensland against Victoria, with strong performances from recruit Michael Hill (85, 82 and 84) one of the highlights for the young Tigers, while former Test opener Ed Cowan found his best with an unbeaten 235 in a two-day match.
The Tigers face Scotland next week as part of the visitors' preparations for next year's World Cup.
