Alderman Ball was killed in a crash on the Bass Highway last week.
In what the family has termed a ‘‘celebration of life’’, and in lieu of flowers, people attending the funeral have been asked to write a memory, story or poem or provide a picture of the alderman, which will be compiled in a book for his sons, Griffin and Jasper.
The family has also asked that those attending wear bright colours and those who wish to do so ‘‘draw, colour and cut out a beautiful flower’’ to be placed on the coffin. A message can be written on the back.
Following the funeral, people have been invited to reconvene in the City Park, bringing picnic rugs, picnics and maybe even frisbees and biodegradable balloons to again enjoy each others’ company.
