There were 27 people lined up yesterday morning at the store, with the Woolworth’s employee saying she was keen to upgrade her iPhone, as she enjoyed the simplicity of the phone.
For being the first customer in line, she also picked up a bonus iPhone accessory pack.
Launceston Telstra store leader Michael Sammut, who said there was about a dozen people outside the shop when he arrived at 6am, admitted numbers were down on the crowd that lined up in 2012 for the iPhone 5, but up for the iPhone 5s which followed.
By lunchtime yesterday more than 60 phones had been sold, with Mr Sammut anticipating sales for the day would be three times more than usual.
