Ambulance Tasmania and the Tasmania Fire Service will be linked to the same network used by Tasmania Police and the State Emergency Service via an interoperability gateway.
The $850,000 investment is a stop-gap until a ``whole-of-government' network is established.
``While this is an interim measure, it will enable our emergency services to talk directly with each other using their mobile radio networks,'' Police Minister Rene Hidding said.
``In a crisis or disaster, this will help keep our emergency workers and volunteers, and the wider community, safer.''
The 2013 Tasmanian Bushfires Inquiry highlighted the pitfalls of not having a common emergency service network.
