A letter from Minister Hidding informs me that ceasing these in 2013 depends on work to ensure that ceasing the tests will have no significant road safely impact.
He hopes to make an announcement about this shortly.
One would assume that research is being done to examine if the medical tests have increased road safety, in other works some seniors had licences rejected because of negative medical assessments and somehow that is thought to have a significant improvement in road safety.
Road safety continues as a motherhood issue that politicians love to fiddle with.
But I hope common sense will prevail and this impost on seniors is removed to save both time and expense for individuals, medical staff and bureaucratic administrators.
