The venture, which opened in 2008 and to which Segway Tours were added in 2012, is a 50-50 joint-venture partnership between Peter During and Forestry Tasmania.
A Forestry Tasmania spokesman said that the company was divesting itself of its ``non-core'' assets.
``It's a very profitable business, but running tourism businesses is not part of our core business,'' he said.
``We need to focus on our core responsibilities.''
The spokesman said that Forestry Tasmania would continue to own and manage the Hollybank reserve itself.
Mr During said that he was open to selling his 50 per cent share, if a buyer wanted to buy the venture outright.
But he was also open to remaining an equal partner with whomever bought Forestry Tasmania's share, he said.
``We really haven't made a decision either way yet, but this is the very beginning of the process and a decision will depend on so many things including what sort of offer is made,'' Mr During said.
``I love it to bits, it's a wonderful business with great staff.''
Mr During said that he was unlikely to make an offer for Forestry Tasmania's share of the business.
The venture has won many awards including one from Tourism Tasmania for the best major tourist attraction - the sale includes tree platforms, zip lines, three vehicles and all plant and equipment.
The visitor centre, workshop, land and infrastructure are leased from Forestry Tasmania, with 17 years remaining on that lease.
Real Estate agent Frank Knight is managing the sale and said that annual revenue exceeded $1.2 million and assets had a depreciation value of $897,922.
