The students will travel to Cambodia and Vietnam in 2016 to work as a team on various tasks.
Teacher Melissa de Jong explained the trip was split into four parts - acclimitasation, community work, trekking and rest and relaxation.
Organiser Leann Dalzell said it was up to the students to organise every aspect of the trip.
It is the second time the teacher will travel for the World Challenge.
‘‘What it gives the kids is just astronomical,’’ Mrs Dalzell said.
‘‘As soon as they touch down they have to organise food, transport - everything.’’
A rigorous application process, including an interview, carved the successful students from the original 49 applicants.
It will be the first time many of the students have travelled overseas.
‘‘All the kids who have been back [from previous World Challenges] have said it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,’’ Ms de Jong said.
Students will be expected to fund-raise. ‘‘It is never too early to help if people want to donate, sponsor a specific student or donate goods to auction off,’’ Ms Dalzell said.
