Ms Austin and her husband, Shane Holloway, own Delamere Vineyards at Pipers Brook and are one of six Northern Tasmanian winemakers to feature in a documentary to be televised nationally.
People of the Vines will give viewers an insight into what it is like to work against the elements as wine author Tyson Stelzer follows the Tamar Valley's Natalie Fryar, Bec Duffy, Joe Holyman, Joe Chromy and Tom Wallace through the entire process.
Mrs Austin said the 2014 yields were reduced, which would result in perfect batches.
"The challenge from 2014 was one of low crops and that always makes it difficult because you have got just as much labour but 30 per cent less crop," she said.
"But the silver lining is that whenever we have very low- yielding years in Tassie, the quality tends to be exceptional.
"In my experience down here we normally get two of these every decade and low crops have come about because of cold, wet conditions in spring ... so the flowers don't self-pollinate and you end up with a whole lot of berries on the bunch that haven't been fertilised and don't have a proper seed.
"You have got just as many bunches but the weight is a lot lighter and for the pinot, you have quite a dark colour in the wines and concentrated flavour."
The couple took over Delamere in 2007 and Ms Austin was the winemaker-manager at neighbouring Bay of Fires Winery before she officially joined Shane at the end of 2011.
Ms Austin said she enjoyed the lifestyle, culture and process associated with the industry.
"It gives us a lot of flexibility in terms of spending time with our son Zac," she said.
"But what drew me to the industry in the first place was as a winemaker, it is a career path that combines science and creativity in a beautiful way.
"From a cultural point of view, you tend to be working with people that are passionate about food and wine."
People of the Vines will be aired from November 1 on Network Ten.
