Executive officer Maree Tetlow said yesterday, it was fantastic news and looked forward to confirmation that it would be reopened and as many as 50 former employees may get jobs at the Rocherlea site.
She said Launceston suffered a hit when it was announced the company was closing its doors in June.
Ms Tetlow said in light of the demise of manufacturing roles in the region, the chamber, AusIndustry and other stakeholders were looking to work together to identify opportunities and possible employment into the future.
This is based on a model that was rolled out with some success on the North West.
She said manufacturing was one of the primary industry sectors and there was room to build partnerships between companies.
Ms Tetlow said she hopes the group to be up and running before the end of the year.
