The Storm are coming off a hard-fought come-from-behind semi-final win against Lauderdale, while the Roos gave up a lead in their loss to North Launceston.
''I reckon we will take a lot of confidence out of that, as in some guys this year when we've been in that position we've gone away from the game plan and got blown out of the water,'' said the 20-year-old, who has more than 50 State League games under his belt.
''The fact Lauderdale kicked a few goals on us and we were able to fight back was great and we needed it after the two North (Launceston) losses.
''We know now that when we do get into a tight situation, we can fight back.
''It would be massive if we could get through to the grand final as we are a new club, and we know we have the personnel to do it, so if everything goes right for us there's no reason that we can't.''
The Storm have tasted success against Clarence this year, winning 16.16 (112) to 10.9 (69) in round 12.
''The thing out of our game is that our players were able to do a job on their key players, who are some of the best players in the competition, so if we can do that again it will be enough to win.''
Hanson, who was named at centre-half-back in the team of the year during the week (alongside brother and potential AFL draftee Matt), has had an outstanding year, especially considering he has been battling a foot stress fracture for the past six weeks.
This has forced him to spend as ''much time as possible'' in a moon boot between games.
''As a defender the focus is first stop my man, but something I have been focusing on is giving a bit of drive out of the backline, by running off and setting the team off at half back.
''For me, it has all been a confidence thing and once I started to get a few good games under my belt, things have just gone from there.
''WIth my foot, it is just the time of the year that it happened (why he has not rested it), so all I have to do is make sure I can great through the rest of the season without it getting worse.''
Today's match will be broadcast on City Park Radio (103.7 FM) from 2.25pm
