The mission will see a delegation of 16 Tasmanian tourism operators tour Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China this month.
Tasmania's Premier Will Hodgman yesterday said China was Tasmania's number one international tourist market, with 20,400 Chinese visiting Tasmania in the 12 months before June.
"This is an opportunity for our operators to foster and build on relationships with stakeholders, industry representatives and airlines in Asia," he said.
Bridestowe Estate, Platypus House and Federal Group will be among Northern representatives to join the tourism spruiking trip.
Platypus House owner Nick Jones said 50 bags of the Beauty Point business's latest product, thinly sliced freeze-dried abalone, would be distributed to travel agents and chefs during the trip.
Mr Jones said the Abalone Wild creation was 100 per cent Tasmanian and hoped it would act as another drawcard for the state's tourism.
"The label was designed and printed in Launceston, the product is from either Flinders or King Island, it's cooked, sliced, freeze-dried and packaged in Tasmania," he said.
Mr Jones said the item would give visitors an opportunity to taste Tasmanian abalone without having to invest a large amount of money in the experience.
The state government will invest $120,000 in the China Mission with tourism operators covering their own expenses.
