WHO: The Embers.
WHEN: Saturday from 4.30pm.
WHERE: The Substation Hydro House, Alfred Street.
TICKETS: $25, or $20 for concession.
Launceston reggae-funk band The Embers will play an arvo set from one of the city's best vantage points - West Launceston's Substation Hydro House.
The event is part of the Backyard Bands series, which will also see Lulu and the Paige Turners play at Hatherley House tomorrow night.

WHEN: Tonight, tomorrow and Saturday from 5pm; and Sunday from noon.
WHERE: 93 Cimitiere Street.
TICKETS: $10 for a single-night entry, $25 for a weekend pass. Free entry on Sunday.
The Junc Room will be a buzzing after-dark heart of the festival, with many a band taking to its stage throughout the weekend. Tonight you can catch local bands including The Paper Souls and The Stayns; tomorrow Melbourne's The Royal Jellies; and on Saturday see the likes of Joe Nuttall, and The Babe Rainbows.
Sunday's free session features surprise performances.
OTHER FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS: Elizabeth Street's Gospel Hall is transformed into a 1930s speakeasy bar, Saturday night's cinema under the stars at Civic Square, and giant white rabbits throughout the city's parks and places.
LAUNCESTON
WHAT: The Great Metal Weekender.
WHEN & WHERE: Tomorrow and Saturday at Club 54.
COST: $8 for one night, $15 for a weekend pass and $10 for a concession weekend pass.
The giant that is metal will take over Club 54 this weekend, with seven bands to play the stage over two nights.
Tomorrow night will feature Zero Degrees Freedom, Drillsaw, Kunvuk, and Satanicus.
On Saturday, it'll be Nosce Teipsum, Infernal Outcry, and Shark Puncher.

WHERE: The Royal Oak, Launceston.
Launceston alty-rock band Turbulence will be joined by Nick Bennett to help ease the city into its weekend.
HOBART
WHO: The White Rose Project.
WHEN: Tomorrow from 9pm.
WHERE: The Brisbane Hotel, Hobart.
COST: $5.
Hobart bands The White Rose Project and Smoke Stack will play alongside Sam Kucera and Courtney Schmidt.
